Independent Scaffold with Hanging Access

BCM Scaffolding

December 2019

Node Scaffold Design was consulted to provide a full design to a new build structure, to allow hanging access to be provided to the mansard area of the facade. The scaffold was erected as standard tube & fitting type scaffold, with modular beams installed over the roof of the structure. This provided supports for the hanging access standards, as well as lateral stability above the final anchor point of the access scaffold.

This solution was produced with input from the site team to ensure it remained cost effective for the main contractor, allowing them to complete the bulk of their work on the facade without having to erect access through the structure which would ultimately restrict areas of work. The scaffold installed provided a fully secure area of work for operatives to access across the entire structure, allowing clear and safe access for all trades.

Full 3D design and analysis was carried out to ensure the structural stability of the frame, and the model shown was provided to all parties for review to ensure this met the needs of the site. Node Scaffold Design modelled the existing structure shown from the drawings provided, so as to further enhance the clarity of the proposal through 3D.
